The Kinkade Family Foundation Raises Funds for Children’s Education
On August 20th, the Kinkade Family Foundation held an exclusive collectors event to mark their official launch. Many longtime collectors attended, traveling from as far as South Carolina to meet Nanette and Merritt Kinkade and to experience the Thomas Kinkade Studios Walk of Light. This collection featured rare Limited Edition art, as well as originals from both Thomas Kinkade and Winsor Kinkade.
Nanette Kinkade gave a moving presentation about her life with Thom, how his charitable works made a positive impact globally, and that she and her daughters are carrying on that legacy with The Kinkade Family Foundation. She introduced their on going work in Peru, drawing attention to the discrimination children face when trying to get an education. Many children for various reasons, are turned away from public schools but cannot afford a private education. But regardless of the public or private institution most do not have a creative outlet.
Proceeds from this event went to Casa Generation, a non-profit in Peru dedicated to providing education to the impoverished children of Peru. Attendees were able to contribute to a number of opportunities, including a year-long sponsorship of public school or private school education for individual children, sponsorship of a full-time art teacher, and sponsorship of individual children for art camps.
